17. Project Management
Critical, high-profile position, reporting to the COO for a key IT function within a major investment bank. Not a "standard" project management office role. Works with stakeholders across the IT function, up to CIO level, to develop IT strategy and then to create measurable KPIs and drive performance against those milestones, providing credible guidance on tools and methods.
The team also handles key activities for the IT function, such as 3rd party vendor management, recruitment & retention strategies and internal communications across the bank. Strong understanding of both IT delivery and operations, with direct, hands-on experience of project delivery, with a large, fast-moving end-user and/or a major IT consultancy.
Ideally has worked in global teams, delivering IT solutions across multiple continents. Proven track record of operating in a performance management role in an IT department. Understands project management methodologies - PRINCE 2 or equivalent an advantage. Financial services background an advantage, but not essential if proven hands-on IT delivery expertise. Self-confident, driven and flexible.
Effective in highly dynamic, pressured environments. Articulate communicator. Credible and influential with senior stakeholders within IT and the business. Strategic and analytical thinker who will challenge the status quo. Positive change agent. Independent and self-motivated, but able and willing to work constructively within a close-knit and collaborative team.
